Polaris Genesis 750 Jet Ski User Manual

I purchased a 1999 Genesis. After riiding it for 2 hours the engine locked up. After tear down I found the # 2 piston had a hole in it. That is just the start of the bad news. The connectind rod was blued and came apart arounf the crank pin. The engine case is broken.

I paid $1900. For the ski, its clean. I can part it out or go for a new engine. The guy I bought it from had the carbs rebuilt. I gues the jetting on the middle carb is the root cause of this disaster. What do I do?

Im an old 2 stroke (motorcycle) mechanic and boat owner for the past 10 years. I can fix stuff but dont want to throw good money after the bad. Fix it or part it out? What does a case cost? I see rebuilt crank kits for $400.

Hi Jerry: This is a fitch fuel injected model so no carb. Ileft the machine there for 2 yrs to be fixed.

The dealer/owner had a accident and couldn't work for quite a long time so i let him take his time. He and his brother,a skilled engine man tried to take the time to find what caused the first failure. They never found the cause. I got it back used it less than two hrs when it started slowing down like something was out of lubrication. I pulled into a dock and there was oil in the bilge.

It started and would run at idle speed allowing us to get to a ramp and take it back to the dealer. He kept it over the winter and summer and I got it back about the end of sept. He said he put another 1 $1600 in parts & labor and said I could have it but never bring it back. We got another 2 hrs on it and it started slowing down again.we got it home and stored it.

I started to prep it to try again when I noticed maybe 3 cups of oil in the bilge.oil lines appear to be ok.is there a seal somewhere that could have blown? I think the piston may still be ok.but may be damaged.she wants to start.I've added syn oil in the gas this time.still scared it may blow a piston.nobody wants to work on it; must be a known lemon. I'd love to sell it if she ever runs decent again!

Thanks a million for answering; where do I go from here? Thanks Jerry I appreciate every word. I'm still in hopes that someone out there had the same issue and finally found the cause. It's crazy that a dealer who is usually great at engine problems just throws his hands up and gives up on this problem. I should have taken it back to him and insisted on him fixing it or refunding at least a reasonable amount of money. I also wonder if anyone has ever thrown in another polaris engine that had good luck with a substitute.

The pwc is a great design, we liked it a lot. Thanks Arnie.
